    Life After Death
At some point in every person’s life, the question of life after death will arise. For some people, this question may send the mind in many different directions, and after much thought, there still might remain a large amount of uncertainty. We, as humans, often direct our attention to thoughts of the afterlife: What happens? Is this really all there is to life? What can I expect when I die? All of these questions are relevant and worth being addressed, but can we find definite answers?

Where Does Life Come From? According to the Bible, God Himself is the source of life. At the very inception of human existence on the earth, God placed into people “the breath of life; and man became a living soul” (Genesis 2:7). It further states that “he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things” (Acts 17:25).
When Does Life End? At some point in the future our biological clock will run out, and we all must pass on. While each generation is generally living longer than their parents, thanks to technology, there are really no credible projections that we as a species will eventually overcome the inevitable barrier of death. But, is death really the end?

As just quoted, the Bible says, “man became a living soul.” Our soul is the “spiritual me,” the part of us that will exist long after our biological systems have ceased to function. The Bible, referring to a definite difference between the biological and spiritual parts of a person, says, “Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it” (Ecclesiastes 12:7). From this we can gather that although the physical body dies and decays, the spirit of a person lives on.
What Next? The Scriptures outline a pleasant and hopeful picture for those who have a relationship with God prior to their physical death. In fact, it is stated, “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints” (Psalm 116:15). Terms such as “hope,” “comfort,” and “honor” are applied to the eventual resting place of these souls, commonly referred to by many people as “heaven.”
Of course where there is one extreme, there is always the other. It is also made clear that the spiritual future is not at all hopeful as to the eventual destiny for those who do not have a relationship with God prior to their physical death.
The Bottom Line. The Bible provides all sorts of guidance for us on how to have truly wonderful and full lives during the time that we exist here on earth. In addition, the promise is made of an even better eternal life where we will join with the God whom we have come to know during our lifetime. We encourage you to join us as we explore our relationship with God, and experience the confidence of an unending future with Him.
